2019 Toyota Highlander: Fun and Versatile
Who said SUVs had to be boring? The Toyota Motor Corporation didn’t get the memo, at least on the evidence of the 2019 Toyota Highlander. If you’re looking for the perfect three-row SUV for Phoenix and its environs, this could well be it. Here are just a few reasons to visit Bell Road Toyota.
2019 Toyota Highlander Details
185 hp four-cylinder
295 hp V6
After a redesign for model year 2017, the Toyota Highlander offers more of the same for another year. Aside from revisions to the vehicle’s lights, it’s structurally and mechanically the same SUV we’ve come to know and love whether you opt for the gas model or the Toyota Highlander Hybrid.
There’s a choice of five trims in the gas-powered model (LE, LE Plus, XLE, SE, and Limited) and three in the hybrid (LE, XLE and Limited). The former has standard front-wheel drive and optional AWD, while the latter has standard AWD, much like another new Toyota SUV, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.
There are two different second-row seating options, and you can also opt for leather, heated front seats, and keyless start/entry, among other perks. Your Phoenix Toyota dealer will inform you of other options and trims.
2019 Toyota Highlander Safety and Special Features
Thanks to strong construction and an assist from Toyota Safety Sense (which is standard equipment on all trims), the Toyota Highlander earns a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA. The IIHS hasn’t tested this year’s model, but it’s worth noting that last year’s — which is practically identical — also earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not available here, but with the version of Toyota Entune™ infotainment on the upper trims, we don’t think you’ll miss them. One thing you don’t want to miss out on: all-wheel drive, which takes full advantage of the ride height and power on offer here.
- Active cruise control
- Lane departure warning
- Steering assist
- Traction control
- Vehicle stability control
